Paris regrets:

I've been to Paris 4+ times, sometimes for weeks, but never got far beyond the city center, except to escape at top speed to Northern France. Here's what I regret:

1) Being cheap and solitary and not knowing it's possible to find really low cost pub crawls.

2) Not getting advice from someone who really knows French food. Not seeing the best from the best part of Paris, Montmartre.

3) Not learning how to cook healthy French Cuisine a bit. After all, the oldest woman in France hailed from France.

4) Not seeing the Palace of Versailles, Champagne wine regions or Normandy, which are apparently day trips from Paris.

What's better about a group tour?

If you crave some social life on your vacation, a group tour may be the answer. Crazy as it sounds, many tourists are reticent to chat with you if you weren't on the same bus or in the same hotel/hostel. The other subtle benefit of a group tour is that, stripped of the fear of missing simple logistics, you literally have more peace to see more. At the same time, if you want to chat with locals or spend a few more minutes at a spectacular sight, a smaller group of fellow travellers is better.
